I have also had difficulty in updating the table to show the header rows for each table, even though within the table properties under Row the option Repeat as header row at the top of each page is selected. I have placed a modified version of your document at: For the most part, the shading was removed by (carefully) selecting the shaded text (only) and then using the Shading bucket in the Paragraph Section of the Home tab and applying 'No color' I was not able to get that to work with some of the numbers in the first column and the way around that was to insert a new row beneath the row above, type the number into the first cell of that row and then drag the text from the second and third cells of the row below into the corresponding cells of the new row and then delete the original row. The repetition of the table header rows was reinstated by clicking twice on the Repeat Header Rows button in the Data section of the Table Tools Layout tab of the Ribbon. First, a really obvious question to ask: Are you printing to a color printer? If so, are your printer’s default settings set to print in color or in black and white/grayscale? Second, I tested changing the color of a x-ref to red and it held for printing even after updating the fields in the document.
